QWER, the four-member project girl band under 3Y Corporation and Tamago Production, is back with their second mini album Algorithm's Blossom, officially released on September 23, 2024. The album's title track, "My Name Is Malguem," takes center stage, capturing the hearts of listeners with its unique blend of electronic and pop-rock elements. This release follows the pre-release of the track "Fake Idol" on September 2, 2024, which has already garnered attention for its bold commentary on the idol industry. Formed as a project group in 2023, QWER (최애의 아이들) consists of drummer Chodan, bassist Magenta (a popular streamer), keyboardist Hina (an internet personality), and vocalist/guitarist Lee Siyeon (a former J-pop idol). They made their debut on October 18, 2023, with the single album Harmony from Discord, marking their entrance into the K-pop scene with a fresh and unconventional approach. Their journey began when Tamago Production, founded by YouTuber and CEO Kim Egg, announced the project in mid-2023.
After months of recruitment and pre-debut preparation chronicled through their YouTube series OSHI NO KO Project, the band was finally formed and began training for their highly anticipated debut. QWER made their official debut on October 18, 2023, with their single Harmony from Discord. This debut made waves for its fusion of rock and digital sounds. They followed up with the release of a remix, "Discord (TAK Remix)", in December 2023, which further showcased the band’s versatility and experimental nature. 2024 has been a milestone year for QWER.
They kicked off with the release of their first mini album Manito on April 1, followed by the special single "Anima Power" in July, which was a collaboration with Riot Games to promote League of Legends' in-game event. The track became an instant hit, blending QWER's signature style with the gaming world.In August, excitement grew as QWER announced their comeback with the digital single "Fake Idol", a track that boldly critiques the idol industry, sparking conversations among fans. This was followed by the announcement of Algorithm's Blossom, their second mini album, which dropped on September 23, continuing QWER's rise as one of K-pop's most exciting new acts.
