Sunny (써니) is a South Korean-American singer. She is a lead vocalist of the girl group Girls’ Generation and a member of its sub-unit Girls’ Generation-Oh!GG. Girls’ Generation (Hangul: 소녀시대; Kanji: 少女時代; also known as SNSD or SoShi) is an eight-member girl group under SM Entertainment. Originally as nine, they debuted on August 5, 2007 with their first single “Into the New World”. They are often referred to as “The Nation’s Girl Group”. She was born in Orange County, California and her family moved to Kuwait when she was an infant. However, due to the Gulf War, the family once again relocated to South Korea. As a result of her brief war experience, she is scared of loud noises. Her father, Lee Soo-young, is the older brother of SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man. She has two older sisters: Lee Eun-kyu (fifteen years older) and Lee Jin-kyu (ten years older). Sunny and her sisters all share the same birthday: May 15th.
