Got7, a South Korean boy band formed by JYP Entertainment, has made waves in the music industry. Comprised of seven talented members – Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom – the group burst onto the scene in January 2014 with their debut EP, “Got It?”. This release quickly climbed to the number two spot on the Gaon Album Chart and secured the number one position on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. One of the factors that set Got7 apart was their captivating live performances, which often incorporated martial arts tricking and street dancing, capturing the attention of audiences worldwide.
In late 2014, Got7 expanded their horizons by signing with Sony Music Entertainment Japan, aiming to conquer the Japanese market. Their debut Japanese-language single, “Around the World,” hit the shelves shortly after. Despite their venture into new territory, the group returned to South Korea just a month later to release their first full-length studio album, “Identify,” which soared to the top of the nation’s charts. The following year, Got7 continued their success with the EPs “Just Right” and “Mad,” with the former producing their most commercially successful single of the time, “Just Right.” In 2016, they made further strides in Japan with the release of their full-length Japanese studio album, “Moriagatteyo,” which debuted at an impressive number three on the Oricon Albums Chart.
Got7’s momentum continued to build with their fifth Korean EP, “Flight Log: Departure,” and their second full-length studio album, “Flight Log: Turbulence,” both claiming the top spots on various charts. However, it was their 2017 EP, “Flight Log: Arrival,” the final installment in the “Flight Log” series, that became a significant milestone for the group. This album surpassed 300,000 copies sold, cementing Got7’s status as a formidable force in the industry. After a successful journey with JYP Entertainment, Got7 bid farewell to the agency in January 2021 upon the expiration of their contract.
