After the end of a long discussion, S2 Entertainment and the agency’s artist HOT ISSUE have decided to disband the team. On April 22, 2022, the agency announced through their group’s fancafe that HOT ISSUE had disbanded, 6 days before their debut anniversary. HOT ISSUE (핫이슈) was a seven-member girl group under S2 Entertainment. HOT ISSUE was the first girl group created by S2 Entertainment, a new agency headed by Cube Entertainment co-founder and former chairman Hong Seung Sung.
In November 2020, a news article announced the company’s foundation and reported that the S2 Entertainment will be debuting a girl group in the first half of 2021. It was later discovered that the agency had filed a trademark for ‘HOT ISSUE’, which unofficially confirmed the name of their upcoming girl group. On March 7, 2021, S2 released a teaser photo, titled ‘Coming Soon’, indicating they will soon be debuting their girl group within the next three months.
On March 16, it was reported that the girl group will make their debut in April which was followed by an image revealing the silhouette of three unrevealed girls the next day. On March 22, Nahyun and Mayna were confirmed as the first two members through their individual profile photos. The following day, profile photos of Hyeongshin and Dana were showcased. On the 24th, the final members Yewon, Yebin, and Dain were revealed with their profile photos.
On April 7, 2021, through their official social media accounts, it was announced that HOT ISSUE would debut on April 28 with their first mini album Issue Maker. On this day, the group made their official debut with Issue Maker and the album’s title track “Gratata”. On September 10, 2021, the group announced their first single album “Icons”, to be released on September 29. On September 27, 2021, HOT ISSUE announced their official fandom name to be “SURE”. An acronym for “Surely U (Yours) Refulgently Ever”, the name describes how HOT ISSUE and their fans will be together forever.
